nyx christmas haul!

I buy things online when I'm at school and get them sent to my mum's house and forget about them. I bought some things from NYX after Christmas, so it was fun to come by and have some mail!

Amazing. I bought Stockholm a couple months ago and I love the colour, but it was a nude for me and I wanted something more colourful. because I really like the matte lip creams.  I don't ever go for red: even though I do buy red lipsticks every now and then.. they rarely, if ever, get worn. This picture is not accurate for how it really looks on my lips. This was before it dried completely matte. The colour on me is more of a pink/red than a true red. BEST PART: It lasts forever. I wore this for five hours, eating and drinking and never once did anything to it. I put more on just for these photos. It's almost like it's a stain.. it's just so freaking pigmented and it stays forever. It isn't drying at all for me. I like it better than Stockholm. This was after maybe three hours (still have nice, pinkyred lips!):

And now for something completely different.
I have heard good things about the single eyeshadows and the big pencil things (almost bought Yogurt, I love that colour).. but not as much about the palettes and other things. I wanted the Butt Naked palette, but it was sold out and I didn't want to wait. I also debated buying UD Naked II, but I spent way less than that over at NYX and got other products. I'm cheap, what can I say? So I picked out some "neutral" eyeshadow trios and called it a day.

They're decent. I was a little afraid they'd be really similar, but they're different enough for me to be satisfied. In The Woods' colours are less pigmented, though I do like the last, light shade.

I'm more impressed with the second one. I wish it had an overall name like the other one rather than just three names, like they're the names of each colour or something. If Champagne is the name of that copper colour, it bugs me because I would say the first colour is much more "champagne." Anyways, yeah, I really like this. Root Beer is almost like the taupe colour in In The Woods, but shinier and more pigmented. Champagne reminds me of the Kat Von D colour Venus, in colour and formula. It's very creamy and smooth. I have yet to use either of these, but it's not like I feel too ripped off. They seem promising, and they were on sale for $5 each. I have more neutrals and barely spent anything. Fine with me.

The reason I went looking to buy some more NYX stuff was because of their Mosaic Powder Highlighter. I saw some bloggers raving about it and I realized I do not have a highlighter. At all. Lots of blush and bronzer and shimmer, and no highlighter. I have yet to use it, but it looks promising. I was expecting it to be more matte (most bloggers describe it as matte compared to Revlon and Nars highlighter shades), but I'm not complaining. I love shine and shimmer and glitter. Give me more.
(There's another tiny shot of the "barely there/champagne/root beer" swatches there, too).

Verdict: I will continue to try out more NYX products. I have yet to be disappointed. They're inexpensive and I actually don't mind buying online. It's $10-12 for shipping for me, but the products are so cheap it doesn't really bother me.

Anything by NYX you absolutely swear by?

  1. Love NYX - I have both of those trios. Weirdly the single colours of Champagne and Root Beer (not sure about the Barely There as I don't own that in a single) are quite different from the palette colours. I find this is the same with others I have doubles of as well.

Of their products my favourites are the single eyeshadows, the Mega Shine lipglosses, the lip pencils and the blushes - both cream and powder. I'm Australian and we don't have NYX here so I buy all of mine online as well - I just wait for Cherry Culture and Nonpareil to have their regular sales.

  4. I swear by that same Highlighter! I've gone through so many of them. It's perfect because it gives subtle glow without any shimmers. I use it with a heavy hand though, so wouldn't know about the subtle finish :)
